Lettera alla Compagnia di San Paolo di Torino: richiesta finanziamento partecipazione all’incontro “Le Grandi Sfide della Scienza per la Vita”

Dear Dr. Chiamparino,

Dear Dr. Gastaldo,

Dear Dr. Bosia,

Dear Dr. Palestro,

As I mentioned on the phone to Giorgio Palestro on Wednesday evening, Nov. 27, 2013, there is a unique opportunity to foster the dialogue to reveal the scientific truth for the benefit of mankind to prevail in presenting the attached one page article and poster to the upcoming IEEE Life Science Grand Challenges Conference in Singapore, Dec. 2-3, 2013.

I am trying to do as much as I can on my part as you can see from the chronology of facts reported in the poster and in the paper that I am submitting in the Conference Record (www.UnitedToEndCancer.org/doc/800.pdf) of the 2013 IEEE-NSS-MIC-RTSD Conference held in Seoul, Korea from October 27 to November 2, 2013, however, I cannot eliminate this discrepancy of high cancer cost and meager results in cancer deaths reduction alone.

Because of your position of responsibility in one of the most generous Foundations in Italy, the “Compagnia San Paolo” in identifying the most urgent problem to society and providing the most beneficial return to society with your contribution, I appeal to support the cost of the expense for me to attend this conference to voice what is the interest of the “Compagnia San Paolo” and the interest of the 8,000 signatures of a petition for implementing scientific procedures to identify the project with the highest potential to reduce cancer deaths and costs and compare them with mine. (I read, on the web, the mission of the Compagnia” as:“public interest for social benefits with the goal to foster the civil, cultural and economical development in the community where it is operating”)

In this specific case, yesterday I told Giorgio Palestro that Aaron Brill, a physician from Vanderbilt University who attended the IEEE conference in Seoul, Korea three weeks ago, was impressed, as were several others, about my poster www.UnitedToEndCancer.org/doc/801.pdf and wrote me an e-mail urging me to submit a paper and poster and to hopefully create a forum about the connection between the benefits to humanity and technological advances and  to discuss the best methodology to use that will identify projects with the highest potential to reduce cancer deaths and cost among the important players in the field who are soliciting for “Life Science Grand Challenges.”

Although I was ill during the past weeks, I have done my best  to answer Brill’s request. I prepared a one page article (www.UnitedToEndCancer.org/doc/802.pdf) and a poster (www.UnitedToEndCancer.org/doc/803.pdf). However, I do not have the money to pay for the air ticket and hotel for 3 days.

I am sure that you, like me are interested to identify the most worthwhile causes that can have the highest impact in alleviating suffering, premature deaths, and waste of money, etc., and for this reason, during the past years I have shared with some of you all my efforts and studies in this regard. Among one of the recent studies is www.UnitedToEndCancer.org/doc/100.pdf where I made the analysis and provided the source of the data from the World Health Organization (WHO) of the 15 most deadly and costly causes of death in the world.

I appreciate the interest of Giorgio Palestro on this subject in helping to organize a conference where I participated with other speakers at the Seminario Metropolitano of Turin, in the fall 2012 and in the sponsorship in 2011 from Sergio Chiamparino of the Leonardo da Vinci competition for the most efficient solution in particle detection for early cancer diagnosis.

As basis, all these activities have the DIALOGUE that aim to compare publicly different projects in order to optimize our effort and help with our work for those who care about making a better world in identifying the area most needed where we can make the highest impact to benefit society.

I never stopped asking Giorgio Palestro and anyone like the “Compagnia San Paolo” to provide references to projects that you believe have a higher impact to reduce suffering and economic burden to society. I was expecting to continue this dialogue and receive information after Giorgio Palestro had talked with Amalia Bosia who has been the scientific advisor for the “Compagnia San Paolo” for a long time to have a list of the scientific projects the “Compagnia” has funded and the results they obtained. In particular, I would like to address and compare those with my cause of reducing cancer deaths and cost, implementing the 3D-CBS technology that has been recognized after public scrutiny and comparison with projects from the best laboratories in the world.

During Christmas 2012, I also visited my friends Giuseppina Rinaudo and Albert Werbrouck at the University of Physics in Turin. I showed Albert Werbrouck the entire financial accounting details of five years of the ONLUS Fondazione Crosetto (in Italy), including the receipts supporting the expenses summarized in the Excel spreadsheet. From this accounting anyone can realize that the expenses per year are minimal, a few thousand dollars and are very accurate in using the most cost-effective services (e.g. in Korea I found a hotel for $33 per night).

I know that there might be a problem for the Foundation “Compagnia San Paolo” to decide to allocate in such a short time some funds to support this unique event for a dialogue among the top players in the world meeting on December 2-3, 2013 in Singapore, however, given the fact that all of us believe in the mission of making a better world and for this we are dedicating our time and effort, I would like to make a personal appeal to you in the event it takes time to have an official approval from the “Compagnia” to contribute, as I am contributing with all my income and chose to spend it to create a better future for others as facts and documents have proven for more than 14 years (Albert Werbrouck and others can confirm it) to cover the expenses of the air ticket and hotel in Singapore.

Other than this contingent event on Dec. 2-3, I hope that you will continue the dialogue that some of you began over two years ago and that has also created some expectations from those about 100 people who attended my seminar together with other speakers at the Seminario Metropolitano of Turin in the fall of 2012, that you will provide some reasons why supporting other projects and not the 3D-CBS that could have saved already many lives and cost, that we could pass on to the people who care like us to make a better world. It seemed logical to many people who attended that conference to pursue a public dialogue that implemented scientific procedures to identify projects with the highest impact to reduce cancer deaths and cost, if you have reasons that this dialogue should not be continued, we should inform the people interested with an agreed statement.

For this specific event, either a contribution from the “Company” or a personal contribution from several of you that could cover the expenses could be made at:

  3. Purchasing the air ticket directly, leaving Dallas Saturday Nov. 30 to Singapore and returning Wednesday, December 4, 2013 and paying directly for the hotel. I will be glad to put my time and effort and I will provide you a report on the event as I provided to cancer patients who organized meetings between myself and other experts in the field to address the issue of high cancer cost and meager results in cancer deaths reduction during the past 70 years.

Looking forward for your positive reply.

Kind Regards,

Sincerely,

Dario Crosetto
